FAQ

Questions people ask before a project.

Straight answers on Shopify, web design, and working with Lloyd in Crewe and Liverpool. If yours is not here, ask directly.

Working together

What does LloydRdigital do?

LloydRdigital is a web design and Shopify studio in Crewe and Liverpool, founded by Lloyd Robinson. The work covers web design, Shopify design, Shopify development, motion sites, and Shopify apps.

Who will I actually work with?

Lloyd. There is no account manager and no hand-off between a sales team and a production team. The person on the first call designs the work and builds it.

Do you run your own stores?

Yes. That is why recommendations such as trust bars, sticky add to basket and shop-by-need navigation come from live trading, not from a trend report.

How much does a Shopify website cost?

There is no single figure, because no two stores need the same work. One shop might only need a small change to the theme. Another might need a full store design, a custom Shopify theme, sections written in code, and graphics made for the brand. I look at the store first, then tell you what the work actually is. Send a short note about the shop and I will reply with a scope, not a menu of packages.

How long does a project take?

It follows the job. A focused design or a small store update can move quickly. A custom theme with new sections and graphics takes longer, because there is more to design, build and check. I will tell you the timing once I understand the brief. The thing that usually moves the date is content: copy and photography that are not ready yet.

Will a redesign hurt Google rankings?

Redesigns and migrations include URL mapping, 301 redirects where addresses change, metadata and structured data carried over, and a check in Search Console after launch.

Will I be able to edit the site?

Yes. Themes and sites are delivered with editable sections, plus a handover so your team can change copy, images and pages without calling a developer for every sentence.

Do motion and 3D effects slow a website down?

Not when they are engineered properly. The words stay as real HTML. 3D loads progressively, adapts on mobile, and respects reduced-motion preferences.

What do I need to start?

A short note on the goal, who the site is for, and what exists today. Use the enquiry form, book a 20 minute call, message on WhatsApp, or email lloydrdigital@gmail.com. You get a reply from Lloyd.

Places

Where are you based?

Crewe in Cheshire, with a second base in Liverpool. Clients are across Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Chester, and the rest of the UK remotely.

Do I have to be local?

No. Local clients can meet in person. Most of the work happens online, so UK and overseas projects run the same way.

Do you cover Cheshire and Merseyside?

Yes. Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Chester, Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool, the Wirral and Manchester are all within the regular area.

Web design

How much does web design cost?

It depends on the pages, the content, and what the site has to do. A one-page site for a local service is a different job from a multi-template site with booking, motion and a design system. I do not publish a rate card, because it would describe the wrong project. Describe the site and I will tell you what I would build.

Do you write the copy?

I structure every page and refine the message. Full copywriting can be included or brought in with a writer, depending on the brief.

Will the site be set up for Google?

Yes. Pages are real HTML, with a clear heading structure, unique titles and descriptions, and redirects if addresses change. Speed is part of the build, because slow pages lose both sales and visibility. After launch I check Search Console so the new site is the one Google is reading.

Do you build on WordPress as well as Shopify?

Yes, when WordPress is the right tool. A service business, a content-led site or a simple brochure often fits WordPress. A shop with variants, delivery rules and a catalogue usually fits Shopify. I will say which one matches the way you sell, rather than forcing every brief onto one platform.

Shopify

What is a custom Shopify theme?

A custom theme is the design and the code of your shop, built for your catalogue rather than picked from a theme store and recolored. Pages are made of sections your team can rearrange in Shopify admin. Product grids, menus and the buy button follow how your customers actually shop. It is the right route when a bought theme would fight the brand, or when you need sections that do not exist in a template.

Custom theme or a customised premium theme?

Either. A fully custom theme, or a careful extension of a solid base, whichever fits the store. You will know which one I recommend before any build starts.

What is the difference between Shopify design and Shopify development?

Design is the structure, the look and the path to purchase: art direction, page layouts and how a shopper moves from the homepage to checkout. Development is the build: Liquid, sections, speed, apps and the parts that have to keep working after launch. On these projects the same person does both, so the store you see is the store that gets built.

Is the design built as well?

Yes. Shopify design and development are done by the same person, so the built store matches the designs.

What is Online Store 2.0?

Shopify's theme architecture of sections and blocks. It lets your team rearrange pages in the admin without editing code, which is how every theme from this studio is delivered.

Do you offer support after launch?

Yes. Retainers are available for new sections, tests and maintenance. They are optional and scoped, not a vague support line.

Apps

Custom app or public app?

A custom app serves one merchant: a workflow, an integration, an automation. A public app is a product for many merchants, with billing, onboarding and App Store review.

Can one app replace several subscriptions?

Often. Overlapping apps add monthly fees and extra scripts on the storefront. One well-built tool can replace that stack and keep the shop faster. It is not always the right call, and I will say so if it is not.

Do you handle App Store submission?

Yes. Listing copy, screenshots, privacy and GDPR webhooks, and the back and forth with review.

Tell me what you are building.

A short brief is enough. You get a personal reply from Lloyd, and a scope that fits the job.
